The OIC Statistics (OICStat) Database is the first and only international official statistics
repository on the Member Countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Enriched with the experience drawn from its predecessor Basic Social and Economic Indicators (BASEIND) Database, OICStat is periodically maintained to ensure the dissemination of most up-to-date through the inclusion of categories and indicators on the OIC Member Countries.
Equipped with more “user-friendly” features, OICStat currently hosts 387 indicators under
22 categories dating back to 1985.
OIC-Stat is now full of process improvements and new features:
Five Accordion Steps:
The interface now allows users to see all the (Countries, Aggregates, Categories, Years, and Report Formatting) on the same page through accordion menu scheme before displaying/downloading their data table. The “i”nfo symbols next to each respective item either take the users to a relevant statistical page under SESRIC website or inform them about content and scope of the clicked item.
OICStat database is disseminated in three official languages of OIC namely, English, Arabic and French. The data can be accessed in one of the three official languages of OIC, as soon as the respective language version becomes available in the official home page of SESRIC (http://www.sesric.org/).
More Explanatory Metadata:
The OICStat database system makes available the following statistical metadata; indicator definitions, classification and reference data (units). Users can easily access the full list of indicators and their explanations through OICStat. The access through the Full List of the Indicators will provide the user to know the exact definition of an indicator and its category.
Major Country Groupings:"Countries" step is now with major country groups including D8, ECO, and GCC. Ticking the relevant country group will select the respective member countries. If “Select All” is clicked, all OIC Member Countries are selected. After clicking “Select All”, it is possible to exclude members of a specific country group by clicking twice on the relevant group.
Availability of Data on Aggregate Groups:
When introduced in its complete form, “Aggregates” step will enable the users to select aggregate data on major groups such as World, Developing and Non-OIC Developing.
Easily Searchable Indicators:
The OICStat Database publishes a range of time series data on agriculture, health, trade and other economic and financial indicators. These indicators can be searched simply by using the Filter (Category and Indicator name), as well as by typing specific indicator name in the Search Box. Should the users wish, they can browse the relevant vertical accordion menus and select all the indicators under relevant categories by clicking on “Select All”.
Quick Access to the Most Recent Year Available Data:
“Years” step is now with a “Last Year Available” option to enable users to access to the most recent year data for the selected indicators. Users will quickly choose the last 5 or 10 years by clicking on the related box. Besides, the options include picking invidual years desired without having to choose a range with a start and end year.
The OICStat Database contains data for OIC member countries from 1970 onwards. The data for the last thirty years can be accessed for each year. However, the data for the last thirty years will be accessible from the main module and data older than thirty years (1970-1984) will be hosted in the Years Archived. In each year ending with 0 and 5, data period of thirty years will be kept in the main module while older data will be moved to the Years Archived.
More Reporting Sources:
When completed in full, OIC-Stat will enable the users to access to unharmonised original data from the national sources in addition to the harmonised data from international sources. Currently, statistical data published directly by NSOs (National Statistical Offices) of OIC member countries can be accessed through the Press Releases Link of the official OIC Statistical Commission website.
Limitless Download in Multiple Formats:
After the five steps, the users are given the option to download the data they selected in tabular format (either in CSV or Excel XML) without any data instance limitation.
This feature permits reviewing the Release Calendar information for any combination of countries and data categories.
