Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development

Aims and Scope

Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development (ISSN 1308-7800), previously titled the Journal of Economic Cooperation among Islamic Countries (ISSN 0252 - 953X), is a journal of applied research in development economics. The Journal welcomes original papers dealing with important economic and social issues of immediate concern to the developing countries. It will give special attention to those papers which deal with the potentials for and possibilities of promoting and expanding economic and technical cooperation among the developing countries. The Journal appears in English, in March, June, September and December. The Journal is indexed/abstracted in SCOPUS and JEL/Econlit.

The Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development is printed and published quarterly by the SESRIC. The SESRIC cannot be held responsible for errors or any consequences arising from the use of information contained in the Journal. The views and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the SESRIC. The articles in this Journal may be freely quoted or reprinted provided that the source is mentioned and a copy of the publication containing the quotation or reprint is sent to the SESRIC.

Following the brainstorming session on ‘Promoting the Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development’ organized by SESRIC in its headquarter on 10 April 2017, Ankara, Republic of Turkey and which hosted 33 delegates from OIC institutions, ministries, universities, and governmental institutions of 12 OIC Member Countries, SESRIC has considered restructuring the editorial board by increasing the number of its referees and has taken a new stand in revamping the Journal’s content by expanding the scope of its subjects, mainly economics, statistics and social issues which are of immediate concern to the developing countries, including the OIC countries. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBÜ) on June 9th, 2017, the Journal would literarily benefit from the academic team of the said university and would widen the scope of speeding up the process of welcoming more papers from scholars in the OIC countries as well as academicians worldwide.

Peer Review

We ask peer reviewers to make every reasonable effort to ensure the following criteria are taken into account for those submitted manuscripts they have agreed to peer review.

  • Although authors' identities are normally anonymised, content within a manuscript may reveal an author's identity, or aspects of identity. In such cases, a peer reviewer of a manuscript must give unbiased consideration to each manuscript submitted for consideration for publication, and should judge each on its merits, without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the author(s).
  • A peer reviewer should declare any conflict of interest when the manuscript under review is related to the peer reviewer's own work. A peer reviewer should not evaluate a manuscript authored or co-authored by a person with whom the peer reviewer has a personal or professional connection if the relationship would bias judgment of the manuscript.
  • A peer reviewer should treat the peer review process as entirely confidential, and neither the submitted manuscript, nor information about the submitted manuscript, nor correspondence related to their peer review should be shared or circulated to any person not engaged in the peer review process.
  • A peer reviewer should provide a comprehensive, evidenced, and appropriately substantial peer review report.
  • A peer reviewer should be alert to the failure of authors to cite relevant work by other scientists, and should call to the Journal Editor's attention any significant similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any published paper or any manuscript submitted concurrently to another journal of which she or he is aware.
  • A peer reviewer should make all reasonable effort to submit her or his report and recommendation in a timely manner.
  • A peer reviewer must avoid making statements in submitted articles which might be construed as impugning any person's reputation.
